Theta Digital Introduces Generation VIII
Digital-to-Analogue Converter

New 2-Channel Digital/Analog Converter Builds on
Theta Heritage of Groundbreaking DAC Performance.

CES 2003, LAS VEGAS, January 9, 2003--Theta Digital, long acclaimed as America's most advanced manufacturer of high-end digital audio and video products, introduces the Generation VIII Digital-to-Analog Converter at CES 2003, beginning today in Las Vegas.

Inventor of the outboard DAC as a product category, Theta has been at the forefront of the ultimate digital music experience since its 1987 launch of the Generation Series. Generation VIII is the culmination of years of development in digital audio technology, resulting in the most advanced DAC Theta has produced.

The Generation VIII is a full differential balanced DAC featuring custom-designed software-programmable digital filters feeding into two digital-to-analog converters per channel. It delivers the most accurate, defined, natural sound digital technology offers.

Ultra high quality linear transformers are used for each individual input jack. Shielding separates the power supplies from all digital and analog processes, ensuring clean power to each processing stage. Audio signals and digital clocks run high-speed balanced signals throughout the unit. Theta's exclusive "Jitter Jail" provides a choice of jitter control for freedom from the types of digital distortions that most degrade high quality playback.

The Generation VIII accommodates up to five digital input devices-TOS, AES/EBU, Coaxial, BNC, and an optional Optical-with each input assignable to one of the Generation VIII's five pre-set Input Select buttons. There is an additional stereo pair of analog inputs, with both singled-ended (RCA) and balanced (XLR) connections.

Both analog and digital signal paths are truly balanced, with fully duplicated, differential circuits. Because of Theta's innovative balanced-to-single-ended summing technology, the Generation VIII exhibits many of the same advantages of balanced operation even when used in single-ended mode.

Using only the finest audiophile grade input and output jacks, Generation VIII's removable Teflon multi-layer board ensures future upgradability for other interfaces and processes, proprietary and otherwise. There is also an upgrade path to interface future digital connections from SACD and DVD-A devices. In keeping with Theta tradition, all previous models of the Generation Series, going back to the original DS Pre and DS Pro, can be upgraded to the performance and features of the Generation VIII.

An RS-232 port allows control of the Generation VIII with specialized control systems from Crestron and AMX, as well as access for future software upgrades. The Generation VIII can also be slaved to the Theta Casablanca II for ultimate quality home theater installations.

Options include AT&T optical inputs. The Generation VIII will be shipping February, 2003. It can be seen with Theta's other outstanding products in Booth 26154, in the Las Vegas Convention Center South Hall 1 & 2, during CES 2003.
