Theta Introduces Premium
DAC Card
for Casablanca III Music
and Cinema Controller
Theta offers improved DAC card as new entry level
option for world reference surround processor CES,
Las Vegas, Nevada, January, 2007—Theta Digital,
long acclaimed as America’s most advanced manufacturer
of high-end digital audio products, will be introducing a new
DAC card option for the Casablanca III: the Premium DAC.
It is a four-channel, all balanced card that makes it possible
to purchase a complete Casablanca III with 7.1 output for a US
retail price of $10,000.
The Premium DAC replaces the venerable Standard DAC card, which is now out
of production.
Features and capabilities of the new DAC card:
It uses a true differential balanced output circuit. It has a Burr Brown
24/192 DAC, and can play DTS 24/96 recordings.
It has new improved volume controls.
Like the Xtreme and Superior II DACs, it can work in any Casablanca
III slot, and has many more channel configurations than the
Standard DAC card
that is replaces.
It can output into amplifiers with balanced (XLR) or single
ended (RCA) inputs.
It oversamples to 1536k.
Its volume levels automatically match to other DAC cards making
it easy to mix cards in a Casablanca.
All of these characteristics add up to a new level of performance available
at the “entry level” for Casablanca III ownership, without raising
the price bar prohibitively.
The Casablanca upgrade path
The Casablanca III is the direct descendent of the original “open architecture” Casablanca
released in 1997. Casablanca introduced the concept of a mother-board and replaceable,
modular daughter-boards to home entertainment components. All Casablanca owners
from the beginning have been able to take full advantage of all the upgrades
and updates made available for the Casablanca, including upgrade to the full
current version. This updatability over more than a decade is unique in surround
processors.
