THE
CASA
NOVA MUSIC AND CINEMA CONTROLLER. A
NEW KIND OF COMPONENT FOR THE DIGITAL AGE. CASA
NOVA OFFERS THE ADVANTAGES OF THETA'S
LEGENDATY QUALITY AND MASTERY IN DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING.
Casa Nova's "open architecture" design is
unique among music reproduction and cinema processing equipment,
making personal optimization as easy as "plug and play."
Casa Nova's amazing flexibility allows you to custom
tailor your system.

Why Casa Nova Exists
When we realized the inevitability of convergence
of home entertainment media, we noted that the music was suffering
in the onrush of new technological enthusiasms, optimism and hype.
We listened to "home theater systems" that
sounded awful. We listened to pronouncements from big manufacturers
who said we shouldn't expect a video system to have a "good
sound" for music reproduction (and suggested we needed separate
systems for movies and music!).
We envisioned a way to make excellence available without
the forced compromises and maddening waste involved in redundant,
inferior "Audio/Video" products. This became a major engineering
project, resulting in the Casablanca.
Casa Nova is a direct outgrowth of the Casablanca
project, and offers many of its advantages, at a more comfortable
price.
Getting the Music
and ALL the Sound
Right
We discovered that getting the music right enhances
the experience of nearly every film we have enjoyed.
Music communicates important emotional content in
films. In tender scenes, peaceful visions, moments of joy or sorrow,
the subtle musical textures that define the piping of a flute or
trembling of a violin also serve to evoke the mood. Our musical
orientation had us enthralled with those nuances for a long time.
Then we realized that ALL the sound was important.
When the action starts, if something explodes, you
will jump up a lot higher if the blast is percussive and definite.
Dull thuds just don't cut it. Space ships roaring to life, race
car engines, and the excited crowd around you in a stadium should
all sound distinctly different. They are a big part of the fun!
It's easy to see why concerts need good sound. But
so does the Superbowl, Le Mans, and the Olympics.
Whether the impact is profoundly emotional or something
more direct and physical, your visceral response is tied to the
sound. You believe your ears as much as your eyes.
The Science behind the Art
Casa Nova is a realm apart from all other AV components.
Theta is legendary for digital to analog conversion.
Theta's faithful reconstruction of digital signals - the science
behind the art - will bring you true-to-life excitement from movies,
concerts, opera, sporting events and even MTV.
You'll experience breathtaking soundtracks with stunning,
audiophile quality realism that only theta can give you.
Casa Nova's broadcast quality video switching is capable
of preserving visual information with amazing fidelity.
Our parts quality is uniformly exceptional. Casa Nova's
internal shielding, high grade, multiple power supplies, and other
parts make the Casa Nova a hefty piece. (to give you a crude measure
of the difference, you average audio/video component weighs in at
8 or 10 lbs; even the expensive ones. A fully loaded Casa Nova weighs
over 27 lbs.)
Flexibility
Casa Nova is a component for music lovers and a cinema
buffs, offering video technology customized to your choices.
Volume Control
Casa Nova's volume control is performed 100% in the
analog domain!
Digital volume control is simple to implement, but
at a cost. It works by throwing away information; "bits"
of resolution, which define the sound.
Losing this information means that the quality of
sound deteriorates; as you lower the volume level, the quality of
sound becomes worse and worse.
Casa Nova keeps all the resolution there is, even
when you've turned the sound down to a whisper.
Easy to Use
Casa Nova can be operated by remote control or by
buttons on its faceplate. Communication is done via its LCD display,
or by a video display on a TV monitor. The optional RS 232 interface
allows control via a Systems Integration device.
Casa Nova is easy to use. Both the LCD front panel
and the on-screen video display offer information, choices of various
functions and selections of surround modes.
Casa Nova accepts both analog and digital input signals.
Signals entering by any of Casa Nova's six analog inputs are converted
to digital, for DSP controlled surround sound processing. Despite
Casa Nova's technological sophistication, we believe in making it
as easy as possible for you to use. We think you'll enjoy the intuitive
way the Casa Nova works. Casa Nova's uncluttered controls activate
sub-menus when called upon.
The "user interface" is based on simple
logic. For example, when a function button is pressed, you can make
changes within its menu(s), and press the same function button again,
to store the changes and exit that function. (the same button that
got you in gets you back out).
Theta's foundation: Digital Done Right
For the past 12 years theta's focus has been entirely
on extracting listenable, enjoyable music from digitally encoded
audio. Now we are building on the tremendous knowledge and insight
we have gained, and are applying it to the home theater realm as
well. Theta's digital algorithms make image direction in movies
extremely realistic. Putting together perfectionist audio with perfectionist
video, we set out to build a surround sound processor that is great
for video, without making the usual disastrous compromises that
leave music listeners disappointed.
