speakers, with dominance of speaker's main source).
30. Stereo front/rear mode.
31. Complete cabling/setup freedom - any jack
can be routed to any and every input select button.
32. Four 12v trigger jacks with variable timing;
pulse or dc, variable pulse length.
33. Comprehensive "template copy" capability
for fast, easy setup. Optimizing your Casablanca's many functions
is streamlined, because you don't have to do repetitive steps that
are the same as related settings you have already made, which you
can just copy, then modify as needed. Includes ability to restore
factory defaults to all settings.
34. Central Power Redistribution (CPR) (patent
pending) corrects for theater sound mixes, which bunch up much of
the sound in the center channel - great for a vast theater, but
terrible in a home environment where the center channel is often
the weakest. Power Steering enhances the quality and dynamic range
of sound while making much better use of the best speakers.
Standard: Matrix, Special Matrix, Dolby Pro Logic,
Dolby Digital, DTS, Stereo, Analog direct, Analog Matrix, Mono.
Optional: Circle Surround (includes Encoded,
Non-Encoded, Cinema).
Optional Capabilities
1. Your Casablanca II can have from 2 to 12 channels:

Surrounded by Improvements
There are wondrous things afoot in home entertainment.
Dolby Digital (for discrete surround sound) is part of the specifications
for digital television, part of a trend to upgrade the sound in
television broadcasting. Dolby Digital is already available from
DSS. Many sports events are even broadcast in surround sound. Casablanca
II is the magic carpet that gets you to all these new sonic environments.
DTS Digital Surround Sound
This 6 channel (5.1) digital surround sound format
can make amazingly good sound. Introduced for theater sound in 1993
in Spielberg's Jurassic Park, it is now in widespread use in movie
theaters.
As a home system, DTS offers some intriguing format
advantages, as software is available both as music on CDs and movies
on laserdiscs and DVD discs.
DTS offers a vast capacity for preserving detailed
musical information intact. Its data rate capability (32 kbps -
4,069kbps) is much greater than Dolby (32 kbps - 640 kbps), while
its data compression can be much gentler (a 3:1 ratio versus Dolby's
12:1). DTS was designed specifically as a high quality, high fidelity
audio medium, which is why it provides for extremely high bit rates,
and can deliver 6 channels of 20 bit audio at 48khz.
Circle Surround
Matrixing processes like Dolby Pro Logic only deliver
mono surround signals. Circle Surround technology uses ambient information
available in stereo recordings, stereo recordings encoded for surround
sound, and recordings specifically encoded in Circle Surround, to
provide stereo surround sound information to the surround speakers.
Circle Surround provides realistic surround environments
from two-channel music recordings. Accurate surround Sound signals
based on the stereo information in the recording provide a musical
experience with sonic integrity, which allows you to believe in
what you're hearing. Circle Surround also creates a believable front
soundstage, apportioning the stereo signal more comfortably across
your three front channel speakers. This makes your home cinema system
music-friendly in a way that it otherwise cannot be. Circle Surround
is clearly the preferred mode for music listening.
Casablanca is able to offer the fullest realization
of Circle Surround's potential. Most other implementations of Circle
Surround will be done in the analog domain. Casablanca's implementation
is fully digital, and is incorporated into the digital signal processing,
which keeps errors and noise from creeping in.
Circle Surround Modes
There are three Circle Surround modes in Casablanca: Encoded, Non-encoded,
and Cinema. Encoded is for use with material encoded with the Circle
Surround 5.2.5 process.
