DAVID
II IS AN EVOLUTIONARY ADVANCE OF THE HIGHLY
ACCLAIMED DAVID DVD
TRANSPORT.
Theta's newly designed audio and video circuits enhance
the most recent developments in fundamental DVD technology, setting
even higher performance standards.
David II delivers superb video performance, and sound
quality that ranks with the finest CD transports.
David II accommodates sampling frequencies of44.1kHz,
48kHz and 96kHz and bit rates of 16, 20 and 24.
Think of David II as an audiophile quality CD transport
and a separate videophile DVD transport that happen to share one
chassis. The audio and video circuits of the unit are completely
independent, and thus do not compromise one another.
David II has separate low-jitter crystal oscillators
for video and audio frequencies. This is necessary for signals to
be processed independently, to minimize digital noise that can degrade
both sound and picture.
Data is buffered; reclocked and corrected for errors
in timing using Theta anti-jitter software. All the inherent noise
associated with each circuit is isolated and filtered, without the
compromising interaction of digital signals.
The digital video signals are then converted to analog
and sent to individual That-designed video filters and extremely
high speed output buffers. This enhances picture quality, DVD playback
is clear, color balanced and three-dimensional. Audio signals go
to the outputs via extremely high-speed pulse transformers. DVD
and CD playback are both stunning. Dramatic sound staging, tremendous
dynamic range and crystal clear sound will bring you the deepest
enjoyment of movies and music.
David II uses multiple analog power supplies comprised
of six low-flux, Theta designed transformers - giving extreme isolation
between circuits - and sixteen highly filtered and regulated supplies.
The display and motor controller are further isolated. Each supply
and circuit has its own integral RF suppression filter, to further
reduce interaction between the stages of each independent circuit,
and between the audio and video sections. This enhances audio and
video, allowing the finest detail to be seen on DVD, and the smallest
nuances to be heard.
David II has an advanced drive mechanism with twin
laser diodes, 650nm for DVD and 780 nm for CD, CD-R, CD-RW and VCD.
David II automatically selects the proper laser for the type of
disc being played. This keeps errors at an absolute minimum, and
enhances readout precision. Special low-jitter digital servo circuits
control the motor speed, laser tracking and focus. Additional circuits
use sophisticated parametric statistical analysis to correct errors
caused by fingerprints, dust and warping.
David II's graphic user interface lets you change
the audio and video setup easily. Full on-screen displays show your
remote control options.
The front panel includes the following buttons: Standby,
Display Dimmer, Stop, Play, Pause, Forward / Reverse Track, Low
/ High Speed Scan and Tray Open/Close. LED indicators are also provided
for disc sample rates of 44, 48 and 96K. The rear panel outputs
for video include: Two "S" outputs, Two Composite Outputs
(RCA & BNC) and Component Video Out (Y, Cr, Cb, on BNC). The
audio section includes: PCM ONLY (RCA), PCM/DTS/DOLBY 5.1 (RCA,
BNC, AES/EBU). AT&T Optical output is optional.
Further options include: 4:2:2 Serial Digital Video
Out and Ultrasync Progressive Scan (480p) in both RGB and
Component Video with sync outputs for Sync on Green, Horizontal,
Vertical and Composite.
David II is 19"w x 3"h x 16 1/5" d.
Weight is 25 lbs. Available in Black or Silver finish.
